The person behind the ideas
Ibn Rushd (1126–1198), known in Latin as Averroes, was an Andalusi jurist, physician and philosopher born in Cordoba. He wrote on law, medicine and Aristotle, and examined how philosophical reasoning could relate to religious understanding. His writings later travelled through Arabic, Hebrew and Latin intellectual worlds.
